Day six, dem hills though

Today was pretty gnarly. We woke and headed off for the day, and pretty soon my my group came across an old fashion horse drawn wagon, and so we stopped for a photo op. Than a local told us about a railroad auction, and we went to this warehouse full of really old tiny railroad stuff, with this auctioneer talking really fast! Than we kept biking. We are well out into the country now, in the heart of Virginia. The flats have left us and we are starting to hit so real hills. Today's van challenge was to do carpe diem and live in the moment and try something new. So I choose tondo a naked mile! It was really fun, I stripped down and rode as quick as a rabbit! The route leaders told me not to do that again (until later this summer!). We had a nice lunch in the Forrest. Than we had more hills, with such beautiful countryside. Cows and horses are a common sight now. Also, we saw a big stuffed monkey in a tree. Towards the end of the ride we ended up at this lovely little county store that sold baked goods, sandwiches, and just Bout anything else one might expect. We bought some cookies and sweets, and Andrew tried a pickles egg (apparently quite good!) we talked to the owner, a nice man named Jeff, who lived in Rhode Island, and told him that we were staying just up the road. Later, we all got to the church, showered, and had some dinner. Near the end, without warning, Jeff comes in with an armful of boxes. I call out his name and he walks over to me, plops the boxes down and leaves without another word. Inside were a ton of cookies, some other goodies, and two cakes (one which we will use for Julia's birthday tommorow... Shhhh) man, talk about classy! Later I talked to an old guy about the town. Apparently it's an old gold mine, which was used to fund the confederacy! After that, spent the rest of the night playing a nice game if cards with the crew. All is well, best rest up for those hills tommorow. Oh and we had to walk across a bridge that was being repaired
